Re: mild BPI

<t>It is nice to meet someone who describes a mild BPI!! Our daughter, Colleen, is 16 months and also has a mild left BPI injury from birth. Your news is very encouraging! Colleen's issues are very subtle(you might never know she was injured if you saw her), yet still she gets PT and OT to encourage...

Alternative Treatments??

<t>My daughter (16 months) gets PT and OT 4 days a week for her left arm OBPI. She has regained about 85% use of her arm - the shoulder being the area most stubborn. Because she has regained so much use of her arm, surgery just isn't an option for her - we've been told the risk that she could lose f...

Re: need advice

<t>Hi Judy,<br/> My daughter's the one with the BPI, not me, so I may be off the mark here, but I broke my ankle last year when she was only 2 months old! As funny as it may seem, the walker was much easier to get around with than crutches and no one even glanced my way when I was out. I even loaned...

Re: SELF HEALING???

<t>If the nerves were not torn, but only stretched, well then yes, I see what your specialist is saying about taking a conservative approach to surgery. Our daughter is 15 months and has regained 85% use of her arm through intensive therapies. Several specialists we saw all confirmed that an infant'...

Re: Anger Survey (about bpi)

The anger I feel just exhausts me and whenever I feel it bubbling up, like when my 15 month old is screaming through a therapy session, I try to take a deep breath and know that my anger can be used constructively to help her, or destructively, like wallowing in it!

Re: Sad mom, with 5 month old with bpi!!!!

<t>The first thing you should know is that you did nothing to cause this injury!!! The second thing is that you should never give up hope. My daugther was born Feb. 2001 with left arm BPI and I understand your sadness. Fortunately for my husband and I, our daughter has regained 85% use of her arm. S...
