Re: the wait
I'm sorry that your daughter was injured! I waited 4 months to go back to work, and it was so hard to find someone I trusted. We ended up getting a nanny so that I could train her myself to care for Alaina. I had her come to the house a few times before she was by herself and showed her my little &q...

Re: Delayed speech
I'd really recommend a speech and language eval. By 3 1/2 we (SLPs) expect children to be putting at least 3-4 word phrases together and be at least 75% intelligible to unfamiliar listeners. Many clinics will do a free screening and then let you know whether a full eval is needed. I agree that trans...

Re: C-section on Tuesday
Thanks everyone for the kind words and prayers! Our second daughter, Addison Jane, was born via C-section at 9 lbs 3 oz and 20.5 inches! She is beautiful and we couldn't be happier we stuck with our decision to deliver this way. My doctor was amazing and walked me through every step! I was obviously...

C-section on Tuesday
I'm having a C-section this Tuesday (1/5/10), and I'm having serious anxiety. My first daughter was born after a traumatic delivery and suffers from ROBPI. I switched doctors, and we planned the C-section from the beginning of this pregnancy. I was just wondering if any other moms had gone through t...

Re: Stuttering
<r>I've never heard of a link between a BPI and stuttering. <br/> <br/> Usually, stuttering is believed to be caused by a genetic predisposition and other factors like anxiety while speaking. It can be from neurogenic causes, but if your son hasn't had any serious medical problems lately or been in ...

Re: Trunk weakness and speach
<t>I hope I can help you with this. My daughter has a ROPBI, so I understand some of the unique challenges our kids face. <br/> I'm also a speech pathologist, so let me address that part of your question. Core strength is very important to speech and language, so it would benefit to do any strengthe...

New Doctor
I am going to a new OB/GYN next Thursday for the first time since my daughter (ROBPI) was born. Any suggestions for questions? I am very anxious and would love some feedback from others' experiences.
Thanks! Emily
