Re: Legal Questions
<t>Generally, if you lose you case, you don't pay your attorney fees but you have to pay costs (filing fees, copying, etc.) which can run several hundred or even thousands of dollars. As for dropping the suit and paying attorneys fees, that's purely a matter of contract with the attorney you pick. B...

Re: Horners Syndrome
I am curious about what Kathleen wrote about looking like her face was not aging. In what way? I've got the droopy lid, small pupil, poor vision, and reduced perspiration, but where can I sign up for this no aging thing?

Re: eye differences
<t>I have Horner's, with the droopy eye, sweat gland problem, etc., but there are a few other things to think about: <br/> <br/> (1) because the pupil in the affected eye doesn't dialate as much, make sure your child's medical records reflect the condition. My mother was always concerned that I'd go...

<t>I say, absolutely! You'll be surprised how strong her good arm will get. The only negative is that if she does sprain a finger or hurt her dominant hand, as I did many times in childhood sports, its much more debilitating than for those who have another arm to rely on. I think the benefits are wo...

Re: ROLL CALL ( LURKERS TOO!!!!!!! )
I'm Carolyn in Los Angeles, left BPI from birth, Horners' syndrome too. I'm more vocal in the OBPI board, but there are so many more grown ups dealing with it over here (I'm 30), that I like to lurk over here too.

Re: Burners and Stingers
<t>Interesting thing about Neurontin. I heard a report on NPR last month about the controversial "off-label" use some doctors are prescribing it for, even though the FDA has not approved it for this use: bi-polar disorder (i.e. manic depression). I called my doctor to make sure that along with easin...

Re: Need help with pain management NOW!
<t>I'm not sure exactly of the type of pain your son is having, but I now take a drug called Neurontin which targets pain from nerve damage. You need to find something besides the Tylenol #3 because in my personal experience, you start to need more and more for it to have any effect. By the time I w...

I've used that very same cutting board for years and recommend it highly. As for the Dynamic Living catalog, I recently saw a cheese grater that looks interesting because you don't need to hold it in one hand and hold the cheese the other.

Re: Future compensation for obpi
<t>I agree that I can do just about anything, although there are certain careers that are beyond me (doctor, police officer, military, etc). The thing to watch for is overuse of the "good" arm. I'm already starting to get carpal tunnel syndrom. <br/> <br/> And I'm all for suing the doctors. My paren...

Great Website / Catalog for One-Handed People
<r>I found this great website called Dynamic Living that I think everyone should know about. Its as <URL url="http://www.dynamic-living.com">www.dynamic-living.com</URL>. They sell all sorts of great products in a section dedicated to items for one-handed people like many of us, including devises fo...
