Re: Clavicle surgery injury

<r>Raquel,<br/> Wow. I had a cervicle laminectomy done here in Indianapolis and had basically the same thing happen. The surgery was 10/06. I did a tremendous amount of research and saw Spinner at Mayo and a Dr. in St. Louis as well as several here in Indy. I had no movement in my right triceps for ...

Re: I have been diagnosed with Parsonage-Turner Syndrome

<t>Robinj,<br/> Let me know if you'd like copies of my tests. It may shed some light. I was never to the point of a disability as I work in an office and do no real physical work. Pain is limited to right index finger which hurts ALL of the time. Arm strength is very poor but I can swing a golf club...

Re: I have been diagnosed with Parsonage-Turner Syndrome

<t>Robin,<br/> I had a similar situation 17 months ago. I had a 5 level cervical laminectomy and fusion. I am 46 years old and otherwise very healthy. I awoke from a 7 hour surgery (2 well respected neurosurgeons) and after a couple of days, noticed I couldn't lift my right arm. After two weeks they...

Re: BPI caused by surgery

<t>I had a 5 level cervical laminectomy in October 2006. I awoke w/ no abilility to lift my right arm. Tests later indicated bilateral damage to C5 and C6. I have neuropathy in right index finger and thumb. I have regained most range of motion (at about 6 months) but am quite weak in both arms and i...

Re: EMG question

I have had 4 EMG in the past 7 months. I scream (not aloud) when I have a simple blood test and have never given blood because of the needles. EMG do not bother me at all. I have had no problems whatsoever. Have it done. The needles are nearly microscopic in size.

Re: Mayo March 13th to March 16th

I have appt. on 3/13 w/ Dr. Spinner. I arrive Monday afternoon. I think I am getting some movement back in my deltoid and may need just some time to fully recover. Still intend to get their opinion. Kathleen, best of luck!

Re: virule bi lateral BPI

<t>Garytj1,<br/> I saw Dr. Mackinnon in St. Louis about 2 weeks ago. She suspects Parsonage Turner which flared up during my 5-level cervical laminectomy on Oct. 16th. She said she has seen about 7 cases in the past year or so and all with the same symptoms. 6 cases resolved themselves w/in a year. ...

Re: virule bi lateral BPI

<t>Gary,<br/> I would try to see a specialist at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. Drs. Spinner, Bishop and Shen may be of help. I think I have the same thing (Parsonage Turner Syndrome) you have except mine is unilateral with complete paralysis of rt. deltoid. My appt. is in mid March. There are surger...

Re: depression

<t>Kathy,<br/> I have an injury to my bp and have lost all use of my rt. deltoid. I have seen a surgeon in St. Louis and await a March appt. at Mayo. I am 45 and live in Indianapolis (Go Colts!). I know what the winters are like. When I was able, I use to go out west skiing in the winter for a few d...

Re: Stretch BPI from unrelated surgery

Given it is only my deltoid that is not receiving any motor nerve action, would a nerve transfer be in order? Other neighboring muscles seem to be ok, just a little weak.
