Re: ??? about tendon transfer

forgot to mention that we did not experience any major problems with scapula winging either. Some slight winging, but her other shoulder also had some as well.

Re: ??? about tendon transfer

Hi, my daughter had both the primary nerve graft surgery at 5mo. old and then a muscle tendon transfer surgery at 13 mo. of age. She did not have nearly as much movement as your son seems to before surgery. After her tendon transfer, we did see great results--she was able to raise her arm up beside ...

Re: Children after child with OBPI????

There have been several other posts about this same topic, so you might try looking them up to get more advice. I think it is a very personal decision b/c as Francine so eloquently put in the earlier post, you are going to find successful outcomes in many different cases. My daughter was 8 lbs. 3 oz...

Re: Pregnant, having cesarean in just over 8 wks

Hi Bronwyn, my first child was born at 8lbs5oz with a lobpi . I switched drs and agreed with my 2nd dr. to have c-sections scheduled for my next 2 children. Both were born by c-section with no complications that were scheduled for a week to a week and 1/2 before my due date. My dr. was very careful ...

Re: any one been to scottish rite in atlanta brachial plexus

Carron, I remember meeting you in Houston about 8 years ago when my daughter, Grace was having surgery. I think we stayed at the same hotel. Anyway, I have not been to the Atlanta clinic, but a dr. in our area recommends some bp patients to go there. We are about 3 hours away from Atlanta (in TN) so...

Wow, that is great news for you guys. It really sounds promising for your son that he is already moving his arm around so much! Good luck in the future!

Re: cheer team

That is great! Does Hannah have an OBPI? If so, how does it affect her cheer movements. I was a former Jr. High and High school cheerleader and my 8 yo. old daughter is interested, but feels that she will be at a disadvantage due to her LOBPI. She can raise her arm overhead (although it is not perfe...

Re: IEP

The same thing happened to my daughter when she was turning 3 --we had her evaluated by the local preschool system and she functioned too well. (We had gone through 2 surgeries, plus extensive therapy ,NMES, etc. to get her to that point ) At the time, they said they could not guarantee that she wou...

Re: Anxiety issues

Hi Alison, I remember meeting you the first time we took our daughter Grace to TCH when she was about 5 months old. I think her and Bradley were about the same age at the time. She is now almost 8 and is doing fairly well. BUT we did have some major issues with seperation anxiety beginning right bef...

Re: Having a baby after delivering one with OBPI...

Erin, there have been several other postings related to this topic. Most BPI parents have gone on to have other children and there are many varying opinions on the decision concerning vaginal birth or c-section after BPI. In my case, the doctor used a vacumm and due to this along with other doctor e...
