Re: letter to schools re: child's injury

<t>My son will not be starting school until year after next. However I have always assumed I would do a face to face with his teachers explaining his injury. I hadn't really thought about written notes and such. Of course we live in a tiny town, and his big sis is already in school. So we know many ...

Re: For Those Who Chose No Surgery...

<t>Karen, Thank you for sticking up for intact men. People act as if they are a bunch of nasty simpletons who don't have the common sense to properly wash. Neither DH nor DS have ever had an infection. Of course DS is only 4 yrs old and has just recently started retracting. Even so even with the BPI...

Re: For Those Who Chose No Surgery...

<t>Oh and another thought, the care of an intact penis is actually easier than the care of an open wound caused by the cutting off of the foreskin. You do nothing, do not retract or in anyway manipulate a child's foreskin. It is adheared to the glans at birth for the specific purpose of keeping out ...

Re: For Those Who Chose No Surgery...

<t>Ds has had no BPI related surgeries, and is intact. However the decisions are not related. We made the decision not to remove our children's foreskins before we even became pregant. Not my penis, therefore not my decision. Also we are Christian, so we do not have any religious reasons to have it ...

Re: who HAS NOT had surgical intervention?

<t>My DS is now 4 years old, and has not had any surgical intervention. We do not currantly forsee surgery in his future. However we are not ones to say never absolutely. Who's to say what will happen in the future that may open up surgery as a rational option for us. He has been in formal OT and PT...

Re: VERY CONFUSED on where to go/ who to see

<t>Excuse me, I saw no where where Cindy was tearing down Dr. Nath. She simply stated the fact that the surgery he was offering wasn't the one she choose for her son. I see no reason why every time a conversation like this comes up people need to get all clicky. The OP asked "if you didn't like a do...

Re: Electrode Therapy?

BTW are they having you do any type of stimulation other than the electrodes? There are a lot of things you can do to stimulate the nerves at a young age. Brushing, ice, and different textures on the arm.

Re: Electrode Therapy?

<t>We were also told no to e stim before a child is 2 yrs old. My ds did e stim for several months, but he was 3 yrs old. I'd research and check it out more before doing another session. We have not went through TCH, and it was actually his OT who suggested the e stim, but said we would have to wait...

Re: Is BPI always the doctors fault? (legally)

<t>ITA with Connie. Not everyone sues, just seems like that if your main contact is the UBPN boards. No offense meant, just a statement of fact that most people who post vocally here do sue. I think it's a very individual situation, and I agree 100% with whoever suggested consulting an attorny if yo...

Re: Frustrated

<t>I just wanted to chime and with an agreement that it is your decision, and you can decline surgery. We are adults and the ultimate decision of our child's treatment is up to us, not to be dictated by surgeons. My 3 yr old ds has not had surgery either, he has what I have been told is a moderate i...
