Re: Forearm Osteotomy

<t>Hi Amy,<br/> <br/> I've been reading your posts for details. Thanks very much. It sounds like you have passive ROM but not active? For the tendon transfer to work.<br/> <br/> I have a bony problem - adult radius bone is completely straight, no curve at all, so no pronation, stops at neutral. Fore...

Re: Forearm Osteotomy

<t>Great comments.. I can add one detail. You can get a splint made to simulate what you would lose from the surgery. I have spent 3 days now with one of those. Since I have only 60 degress of rotation from neutral to mostly supination, it's a big difference to shift that to the other side (more pro...

Re: Chicago Specialists

<t>Robbo, have you tried the Chicago support group? See the Events message board for some info. Also see there that Dr. Nath is in Chicago again Apr 28.<br/> <br/> About Milwaukee, since Brandonsmom brought it up:<br/> <br/> Children's Hospital in Milwaukee does have a BPI clinic. The 3 staff are wi...

The book is on bn.com now - vbworm is no longer selling it on Amazon either. It is cheaper through bn.com and you can use various discounts.

Re: Arm length differences?

<r>I went looking for studies of long term effects of BPI, and found a new one which follows the patient group as far as early adulthood (7-20 years, median age 13.) The lead author is Dr. Christina Strömbeck of Astrid Lindgren Children's Hospital (I defy you not to think of Pippi Longstocking now.)...

Re: Is this carpel tunnel or arthritis?

<t>Hi,<br/> <br/> Exams are over, yay. I am halfway through the weekend MBA at U. of Chicago, to which I take the train every Saturday because I can't drive that much (that physical budgeting thing again.) <br/> <br/> For the whole next day I kept sticking my arm in hot/cold water to get the blood f...

Re: Is this carpel tunnel or arthritis?

<r>I feel for you. I have had my other hand really screwed up this way, several times since age 21. <br/> <br/> There are many ways that nerves can become irritated; it doesn't have to be carpal tunnel (in which inflamation, or scar tissue, inside the nerve channel in the wrist pinches the nerve.) T...

Re: wrist splints

Hi Brett,

I meant, is the splint for your OBPI arm? Because for some of us, the other arm starts to need its own splint!

Carolyn, I am going to go get some fun squeeze balls (for OBPI this time). What I have right now is a Beanie duck.

<r>I heard of the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation when they recognized Dr. Geoff Raisman recently for his work so far on reconnecting nerves using nose cells.<br/> <br/> So I was sad to hear of the passing of Dana Reeve; she was on our side. <br/> <br/> A very colorful tribute was posted in an...
