Re: Your favorite things
<t>Chris' physical therapist gave him a book called "Living with one Hand in a two handed world". At least that is close to the title...it could be Arm instead of Hand. Anyway, after Chris looked though it, he realized he'd already figured out how to do a lot of those things by himself. He uses his ...

Update on Chris
<t>Hi Everyone. It wasn't until I spoke with Marshall (catchatrain) on the phone that I realized I hadn't been here in a long time. Chris' cast came off on March 27, he started physical therapy and the Muscle stimulator on March 29. Nothing was happening at first and we were a little concerned so I ...

Re: SSA- Disability new factsheet BPI
Wow! This is awesome to hear. Chris was denied SS benefits the first time around even though he can not return to gainful employment as a auto mechanic. I have appealed and will continue to appeal. Thanks for this information!

Re: signifficant results after surgery
<t>Hi Oscar. We immediately "fired" the neurosurgeon as soon as Chris was released from the hospital after his accident. He was hard to get in touch with and Chris had problems and the doctor never returned our phone calls. I don't know where you live, but you need to see a hand and upper extremitie...

Re: Gunshot Victim BPI Needs Help
<t>Bless your heart Annie, as I can see that you love your mother very much and want all the best possible care for her. At a young 62, she sounds like she is doing all she can to regain the use of her arm. Once you see the Mayo team, you will have many questions answered. Write them all down as you...

Re: signifficant results after surgery
<t>Just wanted to add that Chris had the same surgery almost three weeks ago that John had, which was in one surgery instead of two. He will get a new cast Monday and come out of the immobilizer. He'll wear the new cast for three more weeks with his arm in a sling. When that cast comes off, he start...

Re: new to the forum but not the problem
<t>Hi Dawn. We live in Atlanta too. Ellen has been my saving grace since all of this happened. It does help to have someone to relate to who know what you are going through. As for doctor's, Chris say 5 doctor who said to "wait and see" and the word amputation came up a couple of times. I found Dr. ...

Re: Chris has a little setback
<t>Thanks, Polly. I truly trust that Dr. Shin and his crew have done a wonderful job with Chris. We believe the reason for this infection is that Chris has just been very stubborn about not keeping the area clean as he refuses to shower or even get a sponge bath because he says its too uncomfortable...

Re: Chris has a little setback
<t>Thanks everyone, for your encouraging words. The infection was quite serious and was nearing Chris' chest wall where nerves were used in his first surgery. There was also a site on the flap and another area right at the edge of his underarm. All three areas had to be literally cut out and now the...

Chris has a little setback
<t>Hi Everyone. Over the weekend, the nurse that I've had changing Chris' bandages for me (I'm a whimp), found an area on Chris' flap at the bottom that looked a little suspicious. We took him to Dr. Peljovich, his specialist here in Atlanta, and there is an infection. Today, he is scheduled for sur...
