Re: Going to College: One-handed keyboard, voice recog. software, help!
<t>I use a regular keyboard and type 1-handed. Instead of resting my hand and just moving fingers, my whole hand darts around, and I do fine. I used a laptop in law school, and even typed exams, and was at no disadvantage whatsoever.<br/> <br/> That said, when I injured my working hand a few years a...

Re: Shortened Humerus
<r>I actually think it could be a combination of the two - lack of use and sitting higher in the socket. I am 34, have almost no use of my OPBI arm, and it's about 6 inches shorter, and my hand is very small too. All that is from lack of use because, as someone else said, bones grow in response to s...

Bone loss in OPBI arm
<t>I just saw an X-Ray of my OPBI arm and hand (I thought I broke my little finger but it's just a bad sprain). Anyway, I was alarmed to see how thin the bone looked. I am 34 years old and have never been able to do more with my arm than to bend it at the elbow, and I have no use of my hand whatsoev...

Re: Is this carpel tunnel or arthritis?
<t>It could also be tendonitis. I had it so bad in my overused hand and arm that I was incapacited for weeks, and only got better with a lot of physical therapy. I don't pretend to know what your financial contraints are, but I urge you to go to the doctor anyway. If there is any chance that the dam...

I can't live without my cutting board with the two metal spikes in it to hold the item I'm cutting!

Re: Arm Pain When Startled
Yes! I get that too! When I'm driving, if I have to slam on the brakes or something like that, I get a sharp pain up my OPBI arm. I always thought it was because, in a crisis, my brain sends the signal to my arms to take action, but in my bad arm it comes out as pain.

Re: scoliosis
<t>I don't have, but doctors I've seen have always checked because it looks like I have it -- my left BPI shoulder is much higher than my right because the muscles are overdeveloped to compensate for the muscles that don't work in my arm. It didn't occur to me that it could actually develop into the...
