Re: Scapular Ostectomy
<t>It's hard to gauge Natalie's pain. I think age and experience has so much to do with how they react. She was really hurting in recovery and continued to throughout that first day. The whole splinting procedure is never fun so the following day was pretty rough also. She has definitely improved wi...

Re: Scapular Ostectomy
<t>Natalie has had 8 surgeries, so she deals with it a lot better than most kids her age. She's very knowledgeable and requires a lot of information from the doctors and nurses. This was our first time at Hermann, and I was impressed with both the hospital and staff. Dr. Nath gave us the option of s...

Re: Scapular Ostectomy
<t>Natalie has had different aspects of the TT over the years, but it was before the actual TT was devoloped. Just 2 weeks ago, she had the scapular ostectomy along with Botox. The S.O. was recommended because of scaular elevation and rotation. The goal is that there will be cosmetic improvement as ...

Re: OT, PT
<t>Kathy Fincher, a PT with Pediatric Therapy Associates of Ft. Worth, is excellent. She's very "hands on" and has extensive BPI experience. She's one of the top TES therapists in the country. I don't have her number on me right now, but I'm sure you can get it from information. We've driven over 40...

Residence Inn-Houston
<t>I noticed on Dr. Nath's site that his patients can get a special rate at the Residence Inn. This was always our hotel of choice when Natalie was younger, but when we were there a few years ago, it seemed to have really gone downhill. I'm wondering if anyone has been there lately and what was your...

Re: Triangle Tilt surgery Feb. 23
<t>My daughter (age 7) is having the scapular ostectomy that day. It will be out-patient, but Natalie would probably love to meet Cody if our paths cross. Although she hasn't had the TT, there have been other procedures where creativity was needed for her post-op wardrobe. Slitting the sides of a la...

Re: Years post surgery and who follows care?
<t>My daughter is also 7 and has had 6 procedures with the 7th scheduled for next month. Had it been up to her former therapist, we would have stopped her care with Dr. Nath years ago, but I choose to make the trip to TX every 6 to 12 months for follow up. New procedures and protocols are being devo...

Re: Hello to all and a lot of questions
<r>There is a fantastic PT in Ft. Worth--Kathy Fincher with Pediatric Therapy Associates of Ft. Worth. She has tons of BPI experience and has worked with several of the most notable BPI docs in the country. We travel over 400 miles every few months just to see her then I handle all of Natalie's day-...

Re: Chiropratic care for someone with a brachial plexus injury
<t>Chiropractic care can be an excellent treatment for torticollis. It can be difficult to find a chiropractor who specializes in pediatrics, but that would be a good place to start if you have that option. Any chiro who tells you that they can resolve a BPI is way out of line to say the least, but ...

Re: What's the name of this surgery??
The acromium is the small 'hooked' bone on the scapula. The clavicle is also known as the collar bone. Both bones or just one or the other can overgrow to the point of needing to be 'shaved down'. My daughter's surgery involved both, but that's not the case for everyone.
