Re: children's book
<t>We just got 'My Friend Isabelle' and 'Susan Laughs' to share with my daughter's pre-K class (these may be a bit too young for 1st graders, but you can check out the content on Amazon.com). We had the same issue, kids were saying that Nat's arm was "broken". The only thing that was broken was my h...

Re: Finding a doctor...
<t>We live in Northern VA as well and take our daughter, Natalie ROBPI, to see Dr. Kozin at Shriners in Philadelphia. Not a bad drive to Philly from NoVa; the Shriners can also provide transportation to the hospital. We've had consistently good PT and OT services through Children's National Medical ...

Re: theratogs - how are you using yours?
<r>I would agree with the guest poster's description. It is like kinesotaping, but stronger and doesn't hurt when you remove them <E>:-)</E>. We've used them as I described above to discourage my daughter's habit of using her trunk to achieve shoulder flexion, to help with posture (she has a habit o...

theratogs - how are you using yours?
<t>If anyone would like to share, just curious how you (or your child) are using your theratogs for BPIs. What movements are you trying to achieve, bad habits trying to break, different strapping applications, etc.?<br/> <br/> My daughter (Natalie, 3 ROBPI) has worn these for a few years now. One of...

Re: PA Picnic - Hawaiian Luau, Clinic & Theratogs
<t>Thanks for the info. Hopefully they will go ahead with a discount. We've just about outgrown our preschool size. Natalie has used them for a few years now and we've found them to be very beneficial. She tends to use her entire trunk to help achieve shoulder flexion; the togs have helped to strap ...

Re: PA Picnic - Hawaiian Luau, Clinic & Theratogs
Francine - will discounts be offered on the theratogs (either full body or upper extremity kit)? If so, any idea how much? Theratogs have really gone up in price over the past few years; its a great product.
Thanks in advance

Re: what is easiest way to teach putting on shirt?
<t>My daughter is ROBPI and we have used "righty, lefty, over the head". It has really worked well for Natalie as she has limited shoulder movement. It also encourages use of both arms to pull her shirt over her head as we have her hold onto the neckline of the shirt with both hands. <br/> <br/> Hop...

PT in Northern Virginia?
<t>Does anyone know of any PTs in Northern Virginia - specifically those with experience treating BPI? We just lost our PT because they no longer participate with any insurance plans (we have Aetna PPO) and the wait list at Children's Hospital is 4-8 months long. <br/> <br/> There are no PTs in VA l...

Re: Resting Wrist Splint
<t>The splinting material is called orthoplast. When placed in warm water, it becomes very pliable and easy to form into the proper shape for splinting. <br/> <br/> My daughter had a resting hand splint from about 2 weeks of age, so I would definitely encourage your OT to make the splint for you. Wa...

Re: c section versus vaginal birth after OBPI
<t>We opted for a c-section for our second baby - born w/out any complications just 4 weeks ago. Our decision to have a c-section was a little easier because I had some complications from our first child's birth (Natalie, almost 3, ROBPI) that required surgical repair to the peritineum area. I was a...
