shoulder/postural support braces?
<t>Hello all, my name is Nicole, and I have not posted for some time, but I have Left OBPI. I just started to have pain between my left shoulder blade & thoracic vertebrae. Not sure exactly what might be going on, but thinking it has to do with the brachial plexus. I started doing chiro visits w...

any adult had the tendon lengthening surgery?
Wondering if any adult has had the tendon lengthening in their elbow. If yes how many degrees did you gain from it, who did it, and were there any complications-such as nerve damage or loss of flexion? Nicole

Re: Dr Bishop Mayo Clinic- how to contact
<t>Not sure which Mayo Clinic you are referring to- I am seeing Dr. Shawn O'Driscoll at the Rochester Minnesota Mayo Clinic. Their main number is 1-507-284-2511. If this is the clinic Dr Bishop is in you could call them and leave them a message for the doctor to call you back. In my case I called to...

Re: growing and living with BPI from Infant
<t>I am a 32 yr old LOBPI and my situation sounds alot like your sons. I did not have any interventions at all, and I too was able to raise my hand up to my head and I think that was why my parents did not pursue much at that time. The only pursuit we did was that of the elbow contracture, but the p...

Re: Elbow Contracture
<t>I am a 32 yr LOBPI and I have been searching this out for myself as my contracture is at a 80 degree contracture. I have been told by many doctors that a bicep lengthening will not work for me-it may be different for a child but for an adult the elbow capsule has become very tight and needs to be...

Re: Dyna Splint and shoulder rotation / arm supination
<t>I used a dynasplint for 4 months and it did not help for me at all. I also have had my contracture (80 degree's) for 16 plus years. I have gone to see a physician at Mayo Hospital where they are going to do a capsule release, and a lot of other things that I do not have the medical defintions of....

Re: brachial plexus block-good or bad idea
<t>Yes I am talking about a nerve block for anesthetic purposes. However it will be used along with general anesthetic during surgery and then it will only be the brachial plexus block for the next three days as my elbow will be in a CPM (continual passive motion) machine. Because they start this ma...

Brachial plexus blocks-good or bad idea
<t>I am a 32 yr LOBPI, and I have a 75-80 degree contracture at my elbow. I have found(thanks to Dr. Kozin)a elbow specialist at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota(Dr. O'Driscoll). My concern is that his surgery requires a brachial plexus block for the anesthetic. This is suppose to keep my arm numb so th...

Re: New here and seeking information and advice
<t>Hello and welcome to the message boards. You will find lots of information here. I am a 32 yr old with LOBPI and I was told there was nothing that could be done either and so everthing for me came to a holt at an early age. My shoulder muscles are tight, but I do seem to have pretty good range of...
