Re: Just learning

Hey Riverwalker, Im Amy, also 28 years old with a couple little ones (2 and 4) and a couple older step children (12 and 13). There are some newer reconstruction surgeries available for shoulder deformity. I met with a team at the Mayo Clinic in MN when I was looking to see if my shoulder is good or ...

Welcome Lee!
It's great to see you join the forums and offer support, please tell me a little about how you complete Taekwon-do. Do you find yourself vulnerable any videos? I have a birth injury but haven't been brave enough for martial arts.

Re: How many kids have sensory issues

OMG, my 10 year old, Jessica, has what is considered to be a "mild" injury (no surgeries and very good function), but she has extreme sensory issues! She is SO particular about her clothing, fabric, seams, embellishments, embroidery, etc., and she has had this sensitivity for as long as I...

Re: Whats Next?

My son was injured at birth (LBPI) he's had the nerve graph, he's had the Latissimus dorsi transfer and continues OT. He is still unable to lift his arm above his head and does not have much of any finger flexion. The support here in Jacksonville FL for this type of injury is non existence and I am...

Re: Mod Quad surgery with Dr. Nath

Have you had surgery in the past? What is your movement like? I am a huge supporter of always getting a second opinion especially for that particular surgery. Or at the very least do a lot of research on the procedure and the doctor, I have seen really mixed results of some surgeries that went very ...

Re: bpi and exercise

Hi Michelle, Therapists can at times get carried away with info. Does your shoulder have a habit of dislocation? I would see that as the only really good reason not to run as there is some jarring on the joints with the impact of running. By pressups are you meaning a bench press, lying on your back...

Re: Therapists crystal lake Illinois areA

What I would suggest would be to call local therapy clinics and ask for their experience with brachial plexus injuries or if they have any staff that are willing to learn. Depending on your needs, you may look into a therapist that has knowledge in hand therapy and specifically a certified hand ther...

Re: Question about carrying books in school

Cindy you already have my thoughts on this topic but I figured I would post here to for others to get another opinion. From 7-9th grade my k-12 school had two stories for 7-12. We always had 4 minutes passing time which was enough to get from one area to the next. I never had any trouble carrying my...
