Re: Kinesio Taping Question
<r>Hi, thank you all for your replies. I tried soaking the tape with baby oil before removing it. But that made removing the tape take four times as long and it was still agonizing for my son (and me!). It only came off in layers, with the white tape just still sticking to his skin like glue and me ...

Re: Dr. Kozin / Dr. Waters
<t>We also see Dr.Waters and we think he is great as well. Our son, Jason, who is 9 and 1/2 months old, has a minor BPI injury and he did not need the primary surgery (and so far no others are planned). <br/> <br/> Jason has been under Dr.Waters' care since he was 7 weeks old. At the first visit, he...

Re: surgery vs. no surgery
<r>I don't think you need to send Dr. Waters a video if you are considering 2nd opinions. <br/> <br/> When my 9 month old son was 2 months old, we brought him in for his 1st appointment with Dr. Waters and no video was needed. We got in to see him originally through a local orthopedic doctor and dur...

Re: Any Mod Quad regrets?
<t>My opinion is that the urgency of muscle transfer surgery is not on the same order of urgency for primary surgery. So I don't think it hurts to evaluate other clinics in the timeframe up to ~ 2 years old or based on whatever the MRI or other evaluations for your child indicate.<br/> <br/> From wh...

Re: no secondary surgery
<r>Here's another link to supplement Kathleen's link. This one is dated but still has some current specialists on in:<br/> <URL url="http://www.nbpepa.org/special.htm">http://www.nbpepa.org/special.htm</URL><br/> <br/> Here's an example (my opinion) of two schools of thought. Some clinics will take ...

Re: no secondary surgery
I suggest getting at least another opinion or two and not just stopping with a TCH opinion. There's several schools of thought around muscle transfers and joint related surgeries, so find what you're most comfortable with for you and your child.

Re: Boston April 9th...anyone else?
<t>We hope so, but know there's still more hurdles to get over, Jason's still a little big guy. We signed the paperwork at our first visit as well, and the past two appointments a colleague of Waters has been taking measurements and another tracking weight / length.<br/> <br/> We go back in July for...

Re: Boston April 9th...anyone else?
<t>We went into Boston this morning for a standard follow up appointment. Dr. Waters says Jason is doing great! We agree, Jason's made steady progress since 3 months, he's 6 months now. Advice is to keep stretching out his shoulder area while stabilizing the scapula so he hopefully won't have issues...

<t>Sorry to hear that she needs a secondary surgery. It does sound good that he's consistent in being cautious in when to perform an operation.<br/> <br/> We go in this Monday morning to see him for my son Jason's 6 month checkup. I hope he thinks that Jason is progressing as expected at this point ...

Re: 1 yr old daughter w/ obpi - need help
<r>I recommend that you get a 2nd opinion, as what you describe sounds like a candidate for a primary surgery. In our son's case we were told that by 4 to 6 months if no bending elbow / antigravity movement when sitting up and hand to mouth, then surgery is strongly recommended. This came from both ...
